Company History with Substance

Dr Wilhelm Benend laid sound foundations for bene’s high quality standards. In 1947 he succeeded in synthesizing a new medical ingredient called pentosan polysulphate sodium (PPS). Due to its outstanding properties in numerous therapeutic fields, PPS quickly gained widespread acceptance among doctors and patients alike.

Dr Benend achieved the perfect synthesis of his scientific and business expertise soon after. Two years later he established a small pharmaceutical firm in Munich called Dr Benend KG, a business run today by the second generation of the Benend family. His corporate philosophy has been unwavering ever since: only quality leads to long-term success.

From these humble origins a family business of great repute has grown. Today a workforce of over 80 ensures that everything at bene is correct, from the high quality standards and correspondingly good reputation through to every individual product segment.

Thanks to the decades of hard work, bene today is represented on the German pharmaceutical market by a balanced spectrum of innovative products, which are also marketed worldwide in more than 35 different countries. For all this globalisation, one thing has not changed for almost 60 years: the company’s headquarters in the south part of Munich.
